Polzeath Beach
A wide sandy North West facing beach in Padstow Bay located on the inside of Pentire Point and at the entrance to the River Camel. Pentire point is a well known bass marks but beware of fast tidal flows on spring tides. A popular beach in the summer so get there early to ensure parking! The beach is well exposed to swell so launching is only possible in low swell.
Parking: A large council run long-stay car park is located at the top of the beach. It is a long walk to the waters edge at low tide. Check Cornwall County Council website for parking charges.
Species: Bass and Pollack towards and around Pentire Point and the occasional Gilthead Bream at the entrance to the River Camel. Anchoring may produce ray in the bay and Plaice, Dabs and Gurnards will come to drift fished baits. Mackerel and Garfish in season. Beware of strong tidal flows around Pentire point and the entrance to the river on Spring tides.
