Praa Sands
A large sandy south-westerly facing beach. The beach is popular with surfers and beach-goers. Launching a kayak is only possible in very low swell. Beware of dumping waves on the beach when launching and landing. Clean sand is present along the beach, broken ground and reefs can be found further out and towards Rinsey Head.
Parking: A large pay and display car park is located at the top of the beach. The beach is very popular in the summer months so the car park can quickly fill up.
Species: Bass, Pollack and the occasional big Ballan Wrasse around the broken ground and reefs. Plaice, small Turbot, Dabs and Gurnards are possible to drift fished baits over clean ground. Big Small Eyed Ray are possible if fishing at anchor over clean ground and Bull Huss may show over broken ground. Mackerel and Garfish in season.
